  • Select an album
  • Select some photos (collage thumbnails are generated on the top of the screen)
  • Tap on the collage thumbnail you like best (takes you to collage editing mode)

  • Go back home using the home button (bottom left of screen)

  • Start over

How to change the aspect ratio (shape of the collage)

To change the aspect ratio of the collage to make it landscape you:

  1. Select your photos
  2. Select the collage pattern (takes you to the editing screen)
  3. Tap the borders button at the bottom of the screen (raises a panel with some controls
  4. The left most control (has ratio written above it) has several options:
    1. 3:2 – landscape collage
    2. 1:1 – square
    3. 2:3 – portrait
    4. letter – american letter page shape
    5. FB – Facebook cover image dimensions (if you have a Facebook account you can use this to make your cover photo, when you share it will lock the size to the exact size Facebook requires for this)

How to rearrange the images within a collage

You can swap one image for another by doing a long press (place your finger on one of the images and hold it there for a second or so) until the image pops out. Then drag the image onto another and drop it. The images will be swapped.

How to apply a filter to an image

There are 2 ways to apply filters to the photo in a frame:

  1. Native
    1. Tap on the photo in question (the app will zoom into it and show a menu bar at the bottom of the screen with a bunch of options)
    2. Tap the fx button on the top of the menu bar and it will scroll to the fx portion of the menu
    3. Tap on “Tone” to get to the tone fx
    4. Tap a “tone” effect to apply it
    5. Tap on “original” (the first thing in the fx group) to go back to the original image
  2. Aviary photo editor
    1. Tap on the photo in question (the app will zoom into it and show a menu bar at the bottom of the screen with a bunch of options)
    2. Tap the option in the lower left of the screen (this launches the aviary editor)
    3. Use the aviary editor to make the changes you want

How to set the frame colors

There are 3 types of color you can change:

  1. BG: this is the background color
  2. Border: the color of the border around each photo
  3. Inner: the color of the background inside the border (so if the photo is positioned in the border such that it doesn’t take up the whole area, you will see this inner color)

When you start editing a collage, the BG, Border and Inner are all white. To change them, tap the “Border” button at the bottom of the screen and then select “Color” from the top bar of the editing control that appears. Now you can select between BG, Border and Inner on the left of the screen and use the color and pattern picker to set a color or pattern as needed.

If you want to change the shadow that shows under the border you can also do that from the “Border” editing panel. When the panel is first presented there are some sliders and the bottom one is for controlling the amount of shadow. You can slide it all the way to the left to turn off shadows completely.

How to clear the photos

Do you mean clear the selected images so you can start a new collage?

If so, you can press the red ‘-‘ button on each image to remove it (when on the home screen of the app), or you can use the “Clear Images” button at the bottom of the screen.

If you mean how can you delete your saved collages then:

Your collages are saved to your camera roll (and possibly photo stream if you have it turned on). To delete them use the iPhoto app (probably on your phone’s home screen).

How to clear the recently deleted images folder

The Recently Deleted folder is a new feature in iOS 8. Deleted photos go in there and stay for about 30 days before being automatically deleted.

To delete them manually:

  • iPhone:
    • Open the Photos apps and tap on the Recently Deleted folder to open it. Then tap on Select in the upper-right corner and then tap on Delete All in the lower-left corner to delete everything in that folder.
  • iPad:
    • Open the Photos apps and tap on the Recently Deleted folder to open it. Then tap on Select in the upper-right corner and then tap on Delete All in the top-left corner to delete everything in that folder.

How to enable photo access

iOS 5

  1. Go to the Settings app
  2. Tap on Location Services
  3. Set Snap Collage to ON

iOS 6

  1. Go to the Settings App
  2. Tap on Privacy
  3. Then tap on Photos
  4. Ensure that Snap Collage is set to ON

How to print your collage
Your best bet for printing is to save the collage to your photo album and print it from there using the built in Photos App.

If you can’t print from the photo’s app or if it isn’t formatted correctly then try emailing it to you computer and printing from there. That will get the best results.

Don’t forget to set the resolution to the highest (using the slider on the save screen).
